Why the name, Mavis?

I used to sing with a lady named Mavis. I loved the name and told her so. She said that she had been told that a Mavis was a songbird. So I looked it up that night after rehearsal; lo and behold, she (and her friend) were right! I later told her about the book I was thinking of writing and having it illustrated with watercolor paintings. She just happened to be a water color artist (small world). Unfortunately, it was not a good time for her to paint.

But I did latch onto the idea of Mavis as a name, and being a songbird like us singers, I had her be a little green sea turtle who sings when she reaches the ocean. I wrote a melody for her life adventures and one for her end song when she sings about the life lessons she learned.
