On what beach was Mavis born and/or laid her eggs?

I had always thought that sea turtles return to the beach on which they were born. This is mainly true, if not all the time, for the males. But the females will migrate until they find one of the ‘mating beaches’ and lay her eggs there.

At first I had planned on using one beach that many of our green sea turtles use to nest. I came up with 15-16 of them! Here they are:

1. Coastal Chiapas, Mexico (Yucatan Peninsula, Pacific side); Major nesting site
2. **Galapagos Islands; Major nesting site
3. *Isla Trinidad, Brazil; Major nesting site
4. Ascension Island; Major nesting site
5. **Hawaii, multiple nesting beaches; Major nesting site
6. *Suriname, multiple nesting beaches; Major nesting site
7. *Equatorial Guinea, multiple nesting beaches; Major nesting site
8. Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico, multiple nesting sites (see number 1); Major nesting site
9. *Canoa, Ecuador; Major
10. *Marshall Islands (US Territory); Major
11. *Ogasawara Islands, Japan; Major
12. Heron Island, Australia; Major
13. **Bountiful Island, Australia; Major
14. Western Coast & Islands of India, multiple sites; Major
15. Yemen/Oman

And of course, 16. Florida, mainland U.S.; Major

However, I did not use a name of a beach or the area since only the general idea was needed for young children to learn. The name of a place would not be remembered. But it was fun researching these places, so now I’d like to go!
